An approach to a complete healing at OM-AND-BEYOND

Ayurveda and Yoga – An approach to a complete healing at OM-AND-BEYOND

Ayurveda is one of the four Upavedas or secondary Vedic texts. It’s primary concern is the healing the Body & Mind. It caters to the health and well being through a complete system of treatments that begins with a very detailed and thorough diagnosis of an individual’s Physiological, Psychological and Pathological characteristics. The Body, Mind, Emotions states of a person, the health of his organs, the cause of his ailments and the symptoms are all studied in detail.

GOOD HEALTH COMES FROM ACCURATE DIAGNOSIS

Our diagnostic system of Nadi Pariksha has followed through a lineage and has been perfected over time. It is a very deep analysis of a person’s Physical & Mental constitutions at birth and what it is at present. Ascertaining these details is a primary requisite to form a thorough understanding of the treatment process that has to be adopted for his well being.

Nadi Pariksha also thoroughly examines the Doshas (biological humors) such as Vata (Air), Pitta (Fire) and Kapha (Water) and their subtypes. This detailed examination helps in establishing the 6 stage pathogenesis or “Samprapti”. The stages of a disease process and the current stage of the disease in the body helps in establishing the kind of therapy that needs to be administered.

The examination of the 7 biological tissues or Dhatus helps in understanding the metabolic process of the body. Dhatus make up our body. Also, the health of the channels that help in transporting nutrition and other fluids as well as eliminating toxins is studied to ascertain the lymphatic circulation and also of other essential fluids in the body.

A PERFECT VEDIC SYSTEM OF WHOLESOME LIVING

Ayurveda is the original Vedic system of knowledge. It is the most holistic and total system of healing. It comprises of a complete system of diagnosis, psychology, dietetics, right living, detoxification and rejuvenation, treatments, medication and longevity based on the principles of Spiritual living.

Ayurveda incorporates a complete Yogic system of medication. It talks of healing the Mind and the Body as it believes most of the problems we face bodily are psychosomatic in nature. By altering our thoughts and perceptions, we bring in an element of peace and befriend our environment within and outside of us too. This harmony creates a very harmonious balance in our environment and promotes healing.

THE FOUR STAGE HEALING PROGRAMME

Ayurveda believes in a 4 step healing process. The first is a systematic reduction of our toxins and bringing in a equilibrium in the 3 doshas or bodily humors called Vata (Air), Pitta (Fire) and Kapha (Water). It is the aim of Ayurveda is to balance these 3 humors and correct the biorhythm by actuating pathological changes to restore a person’s Prakruti.

The above balance is managed by altered lifestyle practices, Dietary changes that suit the constitution to promote healthy digestion, use of herbs as an effective catalyst to empower the healing of the body from within and of course therapies which can be both invasive or non invasive to to reduce or eliminate the cause of the disease to restore body’s health.

The second stage is mainly psychological therapy. From the 3 Gunas of the mind namely Sattva, Rajas and Tamas, Sattva instills a state of mental tranquility, clarity and purity. Rajas and Tamas increase the suffering in the mind and this in turn causes suffering in the body as a psychosomatic reaction.

A person’s self esteem and self respect is restored in a Sattvic mental state. A person’s need to honourably seek truth in every walk of life helps one to vibrate in a much higher frequency. Though this may sound very idealistic and impractical in today’s world, it is our natural inner desire to awaken our Spiritual quotient that helps us to be happy and joyful from within.

Our cells and tissues are nourished constantly with positive and radiating energy that is so important to promote good health and longevity in a human being. Effectively, the disease processes that manifest on the mental plane are eliminated successfully.

The third stage is Yogic discipline. Yoga is encouraged as an activity to help bring in a balance approach to life by performing psycho physiological postures and alter breathing patterns by scientifically regulating breathing patterns to energise our body, heal our internal organs by directing energy to them and give them strength to increase immunity sustained good health.

Both Ayurveda and Yoga work on our Pranic forces only. Balancing the five Vayus such as Prana, Apana, Udana, Samana and Vyana and their subtypes in Vata, Pitta and Kapha have profound healing effects on the pathological conditioning of the body. Regulating the energy in the five Vayus and their sub types in Pitta and Kapha help in treating imbalances at a subtle level and prevent their manifestation as ailments in the physical body.

Ayurveda provides guidelines to life all the four stages of life such as Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. While Dharma is righteous living, Artha is performing actions honourably and justly with an intention to earn a livelihood. Kama is enjoying the pleasures of life and Moksha is the successful culmination of all duties and retiring from life to live a healthy life, seeking liberation.

The fourth step is Meditation. The ultimate goal of Ayurveda, being a upa-Veda is Self Realisation. With sound health, following a proper lifestyle regimen, eating sattvic food and rejuvenation oneself with therapies to stay healthy and disease free, Ayurveda envisages for a person, a life of fulfilment and joy

WALK YOUR WAY DIFFERENTLY TO AMAZING HEALTH

Walking is the best form of exercise and the simplest one at that. It is enjoyable and unwinding. Walking also increases the metabolic activity and helps in improving circulation all over the body. The after effects of a good walk is a relaxed feeling.

You would be surprised to know that you can derive many other benefits from walking if you became consciously aware of a couple of key areas in your legs and your pelvis to start with.

It is important also to bring to your notice that by changing the breathing rhythm and altering the awareness of the location of the breathe, the advantages get more than doubled and the positive effects are simply awesome and long lasting. The time of walking as well as the diet you may want to indulge in can and will have very powerful benefits and will aid in improving your health and longevity. These will be discussed later in the forthcoming articles on the same topic.

Walking can become a powerfully liberating activity as well as an energising one. There are powerful ways to derive these benefits. Let’s understand why walking is so preferred.

Let’s understand what happens while you walk. A very common article on the internet would give you the following benefits. These are;

Increased cardiovascular and pulmonary fitness (meaning healthy heart and lungs)

Reduced risk of heart disease and stroke

Improved blood pressure

Improvement of fat metabolism leading to weight loss

Stronger bones

Increased muscle strength

While this information is quite ordinary and is general knowledge, the actual benefits that can be highlighted according to Siddha science, Ayurveda and Yoga are completely mind boggling. Read on.

A very essential Note before you proceed further to the article: Emphasis has been placed on the reproductive health because of the location of certain key areas in your legs and pelvis as mentioned above. They are incidentally very beneficial. A secretion of an essential fluid called ‘Ojas’ takes place while in the production of the reproductive tissue.

Ojas literally means “Vigour”. It is the subtle essence of the Reproductive tissue (Shukra Dhatu) and all other secretions in the body. Ojas is not a physical substance but a secretion of life energy that exists on a subtle level in the region of the Heart. It is well nourished by a well balanced emotional quotient. Happiness increases Ojas.

Ojas is the ultimate product of Nutrition from a happy and healthy Digestion. It is the prime energy reserve for the whole body. When Ojas is suffecient, you enjoy good health. When Ojas is defecient, you are susceptible to diseases as immunity levels are very low.

Let us explore the actual reasons why walking is a very good exercise.

Walking involves legs obviously. There are two marma points on either legs. Let’s explore both, one by one. These points are; A). The 1st point is in the centre of the thigh. There is a marma point situated at the centre on the widest part of the mid thigh called the ‘Urvi marma’. This marma point is responsible for controlling the water and fat metabolism. The pressure exercised on the legs,,, on every step taken has its effect on our water metabolism. This corresponds to the. Evacuation of urine, stools and all other wastes because of the action of Vitapa marma. Technique of walking – Do not knock your knees but gently bend your knee while walking. This puts a gentle pressure on the front part of the thighs as also protects the knee from unnecessary jerks.
B). The second point is called ‘Vitapa marma’, situated at a finger’s unit (circumference of the index finger), lateral to the pubic symphysis. This is exactly at the spot on the inner curvature of the thigh, alongside of the level of the testes. (Marma are subtle energy points that connect to the Nadis (subtle nerve pathways that carry energy). When we walk, this point gets massaged and activated.

You will be glad to know that this point is responsible for controlling our reproductive and menstrual systems. It also controls and activates the downward moving force called “Apana Vayu” which is primarily responsible for the following actions in the body;

Cures the onset of constipation or Diarrhea

Regulates menstrual irregularities

Regulates and promotes Sexual function

Cures lower backache which is associated to poor evacuation of bowels, gases stuck in the intestines, abdominal distension and menstrual irregularities. Apana Vayu also helps in preventing the onset of Pre-Menstrual Syndrome.

Technique of walking – propel yourself from the hips while walking. This has an advantage. You will feel more able to walk, the pressure on your knees will also reduce.

Observe the beautiful arrangement of nature to cure us of our ailments just by walking.

Let’s now go a little further up to the area of our pelvis. This is the area of the ‘Basti Marma’. This area is just above the bladder, between the pubis and symphysis and the umblicus (navel). This point when stimulated controls the muscular system in the body as well as the fat metabolism in the body.

This area has the following curative properties when stimulated. They are;

It relieves abdominal gas

Reduces nervous exhaustion

Improves the functioning of the reproductive system

Improves the quality of plasma and immunity in the body

Technique of walking – Consciously extend the muscles

NOTE : A word of encouragement is important here. When this marma is activated through specific pranayamas, it helps in controlling your emotions and you can become balanced in your perceptions and thoughts. It helps in combating stress too. As a consequence, the quality of Ojas improves substiantially. Mind becomes silent and the inner chatter within your mind substantially reduces. The advantage is your ability to perceive your external environment with more clarity.

IMPORTANT NOTE : It is essential to note that walking alone cannot restore your health. All the ancient sciences of Siddha, Ayurveda, Yoga are programmed to give you maximum benefits if you follow the biological clock. Our body like any other living organism like animals, plants and insects are programmed to work most effectively by taking energy from the sun.

Therefore it is essential to understand that following the biological clock is paramount to have good health. That is the very reason why walking is healthiest when done early morning at sunrise.

It would be most appropriate if some tips are shared for maintaining better health of both body and mind.

HEALTH TIP WITH THIS ARTICLE – It is very important not to talk or stand while having food. Food should be chewed and tasted with your conscious involvement. Therefore, do not talk while eating. While you chew your food, close your eyes for a few moments to relish all the subtle tastes that are present i the food. Natural salivation is very important. This helps in breaking down the food and makes it capable for the nutrients to get assimilated in the body.

Prashanth! Should we write about seminars on the same topic to demonstrate the above?

TAKE LESS MEDICINES AND SPEND LESS TO HEAL

UNDERSTANDING YOUR AILMENT – Your ailment is a result of excesses that you indulged in. Accumulation of toxins brings about an ailment in your body. The body has a natural healing mechanism. It detoxifies itself and heals itself. You need to respect your body with the right attitude to understand your sickness. And that is is in your hands.

Ailments do not happen all of a sudden. I have heard people telling me “ I was ok till yesterday. I do not know what went wrong today”. “I did nothing wrong”. “Everything has been the same as usual”.

Can it ever happen that your body suddenly got sick of you and decided to punish you with an ailment. You think so?

Consider this to start with. Many suffer from frequent attacks of colds and mucous congestion. Did you know that one of the main reasons for the formation of mucous in the morning is because of improper and incomplete digestion, and consumption of wrong food combinations.

The way you consume food also creates diseases. Emotional eating, gobbling up food, eating while working or driving, watching TV, and other such wrongs practices cause ill health. In most cases, medication is wrongly sought or prescribed where a simple change in the way you consume food with a simple ‘detox at home’ can help you heal well.

Faulty breathing because of stress and anxiety, fear and sadness also cause digestive and circulatory disorders. Insomnia, lack of physical strength and stamina, low libido are all caused due to a deranged mental and emotional condition.

It’s very important to know that an ailment or sickness is your body’s way of telling you that something is not right. When all the channels are blocked and the body cannot cleanse them, it calls for your attention to help it heal. It’s your own body way of reaching out to you for help. Listen to it. Do not medicate it.

The truth is, you need to live with your body till you take your last breathe. Till then, you need to maintain it well. Your body’s suffering is directly YOUR SUFFERING.

YOU ARE NOT SICK – Your body’s sickness is a sickness directly suffered by you. Therefore it makes sense that you immediately find out the things you did wrong which led to your body’s sickness. That’s how you begin the healing process.

If your sickness is because of your mental or emotional condition, you need a different type of healing because you will begin to identify with your sickness and you will only fall more sick.

Make a list of things you did wrong. Accept that you did go wrong. This is taking responsibility for your sickness. This is how you prevent falling sick again.

ACCURATE DIAGNOSIS IS THE KEY – What’s most important is an accurate diagnosis. Ayurvedic diagnosis starts with a Nadi Pariksha. Its a fool proof system of identifying the cause of your ailment. By getting the information of your primary cause of your ailment, healing is fast, accurate and effective.

It’s not a right practice to refer to patholocal reports to heal you while Ayurvedic medicines are being prescribed.

Any form of healing should only begin by identifying the primary cause or the origin of your ailment. What is important to know is WHAT TO HEAL and where to start from. Without this crucial step being taken, medication will create more harm than good.

Any medication that makes you feel comfortable as a result of findings in a pathological report only instils in you a comfort level by silencing your suffering momentarily. This is a very dangerous way of addressing your ailment. The feel good factor by medicating your symptoms is only cheating your mind. You will soon realise to your dismay that the ailment has spread its tentacles and you are taking more medicines now with the initial ailment still being active.

A faulty diagnosis can make the healing process go astray. Identifying the right cause is the first step to understand what to heal.

SELF HEALING IS HARMFUL – A lot of people practice self healing presuming we know what went wrong. Let me ask you – if you knew what went wrong, then why did you continue doing that wrong till sickness got to you?

It is therefore important for you to consult your Vaidya before you begin your healing process. This is very important.

DIET PRESCRIPTIONS – Many diet prescriptions are being dolled out by people to one another, by dieticians and by doctors. Not all are good for every constitution type. And practising random diet changes will do more harm than good as it will completely shock the body’s metabolic activity and destabilise the digestion process. Today, there is a trend about Alkaline foods.

Alkalising the body is not for every body type. Not every body can tolerate alkaline foods. Especially Vayu type constitutions will suffer with Alkaline foods. Gas and joint pains will erupt and cracking of joints will increase. Mood swings and falling of hair will happen.

And Kapha types will find more mucous accumulation in their channels accompanied with bouts of tiredness and l;ethargy. This will only create more ailments. Various foods react differently according to varied constitution type.

It’s important to note that “Healing yourself comes after you fall sick”. Not falling sick is the better choice.

GET COUNSELLED FOR A BETTER HEALTH – A Vaidya who can counsel you effectively about your ailment is the one leading you on the right path to healing. A Vaidya will, with care and concern, explain to you the cause of your ailment condition. You need to know what made you sick. You need to also participate consciously for your own benefit.

Sickness did not manifest from the outside. Therefore, simply writing a prescription is not the solution.

Consider any ailment whether it be because of a bacteria, virus, mosquito or any other reason. How many people bitten by a mosquito fall sick in a house or in a locality? Your sickness is happening from within because of the environment you have created. All the a mosquito does is to trigger an ailment that was waiting to erupt.

Most sicknesses originate at a subtle level, as a result of a restless and an unhappy mind, a weak mind. Any emotional weakness can leave a lasting impact on the metabolic activity of the body and lead to various sicknesses.

LIFESTYLE RELATED DISORDERS – Blaming your work or social life will not help beyond a point. Lifestyle disorders contribute in a big way in making your body sick. Sooner or later, you will be forced to follow a proper lifestyle desperately with stringent Dos’ and Donts’ and you will not enjoy living that way.

Bring a balance between your work and social life. And balance both of them with the way you would love to live life everyday.

WHAT CREATES A DISEASE – Every night, when we go to sleep late, the body still works to digest our food. But in this case, the digestion power is weak. The result is the undigested mucous we see on our tongue, in our mouth and also the phlegm that comes out of the throat.

If the food is not digested well, the undigested mucous (the result of an incomplete digestion) also has undigested acid and other undigested food particles. This blocks all channels and becomes the breeding ground for bacteria and viruses. As we allow this mucous to grow, it starts to block our channels from within.

We experience a foul smelling mouth, constipation, skin disorders, acne, eczema, loose stools, low grade fevers, oscillating body temperatures, unexplained mood swings, a distended abdomen with lots of gas, acidity, migraines, join pains, back pain, hair fall etc… the list can go on.

All these ailments are a result of a dysfunctional metabolic activity, a result of careless living. People today are frightened of not wanting Cancer, you think Cancer comes to you so easily, out of nowhere? If all these ailments go unchecked and ignored by you, it can also lead to Cancer one day.

And when one gets Cancer, one does everything to live. One consumes all kinds of medicines – Allopathy, Homeopathy, Ayurveda, Udani, and what not. But the patient will not change his or her faulty ways of living. It’s not their fault. Most people are not given the right information about the cause of their ailments. Others just want to consume medication.

DIETS THAT HELP MAKE MEDICINES WORK BETTER – Foods are considered as medication in Ayurveda. They nourish the cells and tissues. It is important to understand the nature of foods to consume to have the desired healing effect.

Foods are your first medicine. Foods need to be compatible to your constitution. And they need to be completely digested. Undigested food becomes a cause for ailments to manifest too. This is Ayurveda. All foods are not accepted harmoniously by every body type. The Vaidya will take into consideration your current constitution, the strength of the digestive juices, the current toxicity of the body and your current health before suggesting a diet.

It is also important to assess your current mental makeup and your emotional state as these speak of the food preferences you have been indulging in. Emotional eating is known to create disastrous effects on the body like Colitis, Gastritis, Obesity, Acid Reflux, Eczema, Constipation and so many other severe ailments. What you consume should become nutrition and enable the body to become healthier, not make you sick.

It will help you to know that Ayurvedic medicines are compared with the Fruits, Vegetables, Legumes and the Nuts that we consume.

Knowing all these details can only happen through a Nadi Pariksha. A thorough examination of your pulse can reveal all the above and more.

THE MEANING OF MEDICATION IN AYURVEDA – Digestive strength is a very important criteria before administering medicines in Ayurveda. Medicines need to get broken down and absorbed into the blood circulation. This helps their effect to reach the targeted organ.

Medication is not just consuming pills. Healing does not start with medication. Especially in Ayurveda and Siddha medicine, consuming medicine begins when they body has been put on a recovery path by adopting a lifestyle that corrects the inner bio-rhythm. By strengthening the bio-rhythm, the body is tuned to the natural healing forces present within to detoxify and rejuvenate itself.

The body’s inner intelligence takes over to heal from within. In this process, a couple of simple ailments are healed without medication. Medication only helps in healing as a catalyst.

HOW TO CONSUME MEDICINES – Medicines in Ayurveda are treated as a catalyst in healing. They empower the body to heal from within. Many factors need to be considered before administering medicines to a patient namely;

The bodily strength of the patient

The Digestive strength of the patient

The Disease condition, ie the stage of the disease infection in the body according to the Samprapti or Etiology

The nature of the medicine to be considered for administering

Ayurvedic medication is not considered separate from the food we consume. They also need to go through the process of digestion and assimilation before they reach the desired site of action. Therefore correcting your digestive system is of importance.

Medicines are consumed;

On empty stomach

Before food

In the food

In between meals

Immediately after food

Consumed at night at bedtime

Each of these types of administration have their own benefits on the body to treat diseases based on the derangement of the 5 Vayus, to tone digestion, to work on weight loss, to correct the digestive fire, to correct circulatory or respiratory disorders, to treat diseases connected to the heart, to correct reproductive disorders etc.

YOU ARE THE HEALER – From the above, it is clear that healing is possible only with an attitude to heal. Conscious participation in the correcting of lifestyle, responsible consumption of foods and food combinations contribute largely to the healing process. So seeking health through medication alone is just a partial understanding.

COUNSELLING YOU ABOUT HEALING – It’s important to understand how the healing process is going to take place. Each and every body is different, each and every constitution is different. So healing needs to be personalised.

Ayurvedic healing is not about prescribing medicines. It is a planned process and the process is tailor made to the individuals needs and on the type of disease one is suffering from, and the fundamental cause of the disease.

THE STUDY OF MACROCOSM WITHIN THE MICROCOSM

NADI PARIKSHA – THE STUDY OF THE “MACROCOSM” WITHIN THE “MICROCOSM”.

STUDYING “FLUID DYNAMICS” IN OUR BODY
AND THE INTELLIGENCE THAT CONTROLS IT.

While I was meditating today at midnight, I was delivered this message on the impact of Nadi Pariksha in understanding our cosmic design. I got a vision of the whole cosmos, its intelligent ways of evolving out of itself, a mechanism which seemed to be self driven and with a definite purpose, too large for us to understand and interpret. We are just a replica of the way the universe is evolving.

The universe is ever growing, ever expanding. But there is an intelligence that is making this happen. Matter is getting created but there is a force that is dissolving it too. There is a subtle control through the existence of black holes where everything gross and subtle is sucked in. Nothing exists after this; but something does get created.

Our body is working in the same way. We are also totally fluid in nature. Like the universe has a hard outer body consisting of stars, planets, galaxies, nebulae and black holes, we have the same happening within us. Let us look at ourselves. Like the universe we are solid, but are totally connected to the fluidity within us, in fact, we are controlled by the fluidity within us. We manifest it, control it, direct it and ascend over it by leaving it behind into a zone that helped plan this intelligence within us, we call it God, the Brahman.

Nadi in Sanskrit is flow. A Nadi Pariksha when conducted studies the flow of anything and everything within you (or should do so) It is a complete and comprehensive process in the Siddha system of Nadi Pariksha which I practice. It is understanding the “Fluid Dynamics” within the human body and the very intelligence that is controlling it.

Through the diagnosis from the Nadi Pariksha, “YOU” (as in your body, mind, thoughts, perceptions, emotions, actions etc,.) can can get an understanding of the changes in the “Fluid Dynamics” happening within your body, the cause of the changes that took place, the reasons for these changes and the ways to resolve them.

Thus, you can be directed to steer back to your “Original Plan” for your very existence in this world. Your journey is fruitfully resolved by giving it a very dignified and meaningful completion.

Let us look at what are all “Flowing and Fluid” within “YOU”;

THE SUBTLE PLAN – “FLUIDITY BROKEN DOWN INTO VARIOUS ENERGY FREQUENCIES”

  1. THE CONSCIOUSNESS – The intelligence that is responsible for your very existence. This controls your master plan – From Birth to death.
  2. THE MIND – It’s the processing unit that conveys the working of the fluid dynamics within you when subjected to the fluidity outside your microcosm, ie,. the external world. It then interprets your direction of change during your journey – whether its towards “Harmony” or “Disharmony” as the case may be in relation to the “Original Plan”.
  3. THE SENSES – The ‘sensors’ of the mind that feed information on the subtle changes as perceived from outside and from within. Each of these sense receptors have both a gross receptor to study, understand and interpret about the world outside as well as a subtle receptor, “A Twin” to experience the effects of this change within you.
  4. YOUR PERCEPTIONS – These are mechanisms to interpret the information happening outside your microcosm and connect them as information to help you plan your travel.
  5. YOUR FEELINGS – These are subtle agents that ‘Analyse’ the interpretations given by the perceiver and gives you an understanding of the way it should be translated to the gross bodyto work out the modalities of your journey. This is an important interface, a bridge which enables your body to decide how to behave, to act, react etc.
  6. YOUR EMOTIONS – These are conveyors of the change in consciousness within you after the mind has been given the related information of the way you feel. This helps in deciding your ability to travel in various circumstances.
  7. YOUR ACTIONS – The final outcome of the subtle mechanism that has decided to put your body in motion in a certain travel direction.

THE GROSS PLAN – FLUIDITY ASSUMES DENSER PROPORTIONS”

The “Gross Plan” has the following fluid dynamics totally in relation to the subtle plan. The same is enumerated below.
  1. THE FLOW OF ENERGY – This is where the subtle plan enters the gross. As you feel, so is the energy you manifest within you. When you are happy, you feel more energetic, when you are sad, you feel less energetic, when you are angry, your energy becomes erratic and goes out of control and so on and so forth.
  2. THE FLOW OF AIR – Your breathe is totally related to your thought flow, the energy I was just referring to. Your thoughts, feelings and emotions are energies flowing at varied frequencies. These control your breathing; the amount of breathe that is required to allow these energies to manifest in your gross body to bring meaningful changes. It’s all a “Mind over Matter” game.
  3. THE FLOW OF HUNGER – This is directly in sync with the kind of energy that is being transferred from the gross to the subtle. Lets look at examples here to understand it better;
    a. Your hunger for food is maximum when you are upset, angry, agitated etc. This consumes maximum energy. You are forced into emotional eating.
    b. Your hunger for food is moderate and controlled when you are happy.
    c. Your hunger for food is very low when you are deep in thought
    d. Your hunger for food is even lower when you are depressed.
    e. Your hunger is absent when you are either sleeping or meditating, or in absolute peace within yourself.

“The meaning of the last sentence is that you are one in tune with the macrocosm, your consciousness. When you are in sync with it, the food becomes the very intelligent energy that drives you. This is the energy that is responsible for your very creation, your sustenance, your survival and your ascent in the end towards the source of all our creation”.
  4. THE FLOW OF NUTRITION OR TOXIN – “FLUID DYNAMICS AT THE GROSS LEVEL”

This indicates the effects by the subtler energy patterns like Thoughts, perceptions, feelings, emotions etc on the formation of nutrition or toxins while consuming food. It is for this reason that external energies should not interfere with your eating process like TV, Mobile phones, Talking, working simultaneously etc. These external influencers play havoc while the harmonious energies within your body are interacting with each other in deciding how much of food is “Optimally required” and the amount of enzymes actively required to digest it.

When you begin to indulge in sense pleasures, you disturb this subtle energy flow that is establishing this energy and enzyme flow with you; and you either end up eating more or very less. The flow of enzymes is either too much or too less and your concentration on the activity called ‘eating’ is absent.

This whole process of ‘food consumption and digestion’ decides the formation of the nutritive component called “Rasa” in Ayurveda and Siddha medicine. Rasa determines “your” health; of mind, body, organs, emotions, and your total well being.

You are still in the flow and continuing……..
  5. THE FLOW OF BLOOD – As is “Rasa” so is “Rakta”, the blood. The combination of the Liver, The Small intestine, The Spleen and the Pancreas decide the quality of the conversion of ‘Rasa’ into ‘Rakta’ or blood that is produced and its quality.

Sugar metabolism then works on the amount of energy to be released through the metabolising of fat and its conversion to energy by breaking down the sugar.
  6. THE FLOW OF WASTE – After the whole metabolic process is complete, the waste is generated
and its formation and flow is decided totally on your conscious or unconscious activities. Lets look
    deeper here.

a. When you eat well, with no haste, when you have chewed your food properly, your body absorbs all the nutrition and finally eliminates the roughage that is not required. The process of the formation of chyme in the stomach, the digestion in the small intestine through the active flow of bile, hydrochloric acid, the pancreatic juices as well as other enzymes like saliva decide the amount of nutrition that is to be extracted out of the food you consumed.
b. When you do not concentrate on your eating, this whole process is destabilised and the output is as follows;

(i) Less Energy to digest as a result of the earlier similar process, as a force of habit
(ii) Less Nutrition
(iii) Less energy output
(iv) Less blood output
(v) Less circulation

To add on to the misery, this is also happening;

(i) More toxins
(ii) More fat
(iii) More blockages in your body where energy and blood cannot flow
(iv) More ailments
(v) More diseases

THE EXISTENCE OF BLACK HOLES IN THE UNIVERSE AND IN “YOU” TOO!

We have also heard of black holes but could never see them. These are the mysterious zones in space where nothing exists. No life exists here. The black hole changes the universe’s growth patterns and brings some kind of a change in the evolution and growth of the universe.

It is also so symbiotic to the universal plan that it’s existence is not hampering the universe but is assisting it’s plan in some unknown way.

“You have a black hole within you too”. This empty space is created because of the lack of nutrition to the tissues. When tissues are clogged with toxins and do not possess sufficient heat within themselves to reproduce (like the stars in the universe), they die and leave an empty space. This empty space is called “Khavaigunya” or the mysterious space in Ayurveda.

This mysterious space is responsible for the growth of new matter. Here, unfortunately new matter is where the growth of toxins takes place. This “Khavaigunya” or mysterious space is responsible for the growth of anti matter that causes diseases. Even Cancer is one such disease.

THE ROLE OF NADI PARIKSHA IS MOST POWERFUL AND SIGNIFICANT HERE.

Nadi or “Flow” understands this whole “Fluid Dynamics” in the “Body and Mind” by revealing the following;

a. It reveals your cosmic plan, your very ‘Original Plan” – YOUR PRAKRUTI. The Prakruti gives an understanding of the reason for your existence in this world.
b. The VIKRUTI – YOUR VIKRUTI gives the very reasons why the changes, the deviations have happened within you as compared to the Prakruti, your “Original Plan”.
c. YOUR MENTAL STATE AND EMOTIONAL STATES – It understands the predominant flow of your thought process, your perceptions, your emotions, your psyche and the reasons why you decide to interact in a certain way.
d. The DOSHAS – These are Subtle psycho-physiological energies that get affected by these mental and psychological energy patterns and also because of pathological disturbances. These are VATA (The propelling force that are responsible for growth and change within you, PITTA (The energy for transformation and metabolic activity) and KAPHA (The energy responsible for providing form, stability, sustenance and continuation.
e. THE DHATUS – The formation of various tissues in your body ie.

(i) RASA – Digested portion of food
(ii) RAKTA – Blood Tissue
(iii) MAMSA – Muscle Tissue
(iv) MEDA – Fat Tissue
(v) ASTHI – Bone Tissue
(vi) MAJJA – Nerve Tissue
(Vii) SHUKRA – Reproductive tissue

e. Each process or flow that is happening within you is linked with the next.

f. There is another parallel flow that is taking place as a result of the formation of these tissues within you. The formation of these tissues release waste matter. These are;
(i) Formation of “Rasa” leads to the production of “Phlegm” or mucous.
(ii). Formation of “Rakta” leads to the production of “Bile”.
(iii) Formation of “Mamsa” leads to the production of waste in the “Ear, Eyes, Mouth, Nose and Roots of Hair”
(iv) Formation of Meda” leads to the production of “Sweat”
(v) Formation of “Asthi” leads to the formation of “Head and body Hair and Nails”
(vi) Formation of “Majja” leads to the formation of “Oily substance in Eyes, Skin and Faeces”
(vii) Formation of “Shukra” leads to no waste formation.

CONCLUSION:

You can now see that Nadi Pariksha understand each and every intricate flow. Nadi Pariksha is a thorough understanding of “Fluid Dynamics” within our body.

Nothing can escape its diagnosis. Nothing remains unexpressed. Even the cause of the mysterious space is also revealed and resolved through its findings.

Through Nadi Pariksha, a person can be very successfully put back onto the “Original plan” and reason for your existence in this world. It helps to show you a “Definite path” to connect you back with your consciousness.

This is the only way Ayurveda and Siddha medicine can successfully achieve their desired results.

Biological Clock

BIOLOGICAL CLOCK

The Biological Clock is the active intelligence of the body that nature has programmed in the human body so that humans can resonate with the vibratory frequencies of nature and stay healthy.

These Bio-Rhythms coincide with the rising and setting sun and the electromagnetic frequencies emitted by the earth at different times during the day.

Both in our wakeful and deep sleep states, our organs rejuvenate and work at their optimum levels. Thus, they stay healthy and age gracefully giving us sustained health till the end of our life.

Respecting the Biological clock gives us the best opportunity to stay healthy and fit and not fall sick. Planning of food, food combinations and water consumption patterns are all key to the sustainable working of the body.

Ayurveda has studied these frequencies over 5000 years ago and has mapped these frequencies and has plotted them to various organs in our body, at various time zones of the 24 hour day.

3.00 – 5.00 AM – LUNG – Vata

This is the time when Prana manifests in the body. That is why this time is called the “Brahma Muhurtam” in the Vedas.

The lung governs the respiratory system as well as the immune system. It also helps moisten the skin and regulates sweat glands.

The best Yoga practices of Pranayama happens at this time. The Prana taken in at this time nourishes all tissues and strengthens the functioning of all organs.

A result of a good Yoga practice can also bring about good memory, sharpness of mind and reflexes, good circulation of energy, proper exchange of gases and complete elimination of toxins from the lung.

Full Breathing done at this time regulates the peristaltic activity and also activates their next functional organ in the biological clock; the large intestine.

Because of complete diaphragm is movement and the movement of the abdomen, toxins are dislodged from their seat and are sent downward to be excreted.

The diseases than can manifest because of a deficient lung are – Shortness of breathe, Asthma, Shallow breathing, Weight Loss, Bhronchitis, Chronic Cough, Emotional low, Weak voice, Cough and colds, Headaches, Depression, Fatigue, Excessive sweating, Respiratory allergies, Dry skin.

5.00 AM -7.00 AM – LARGE INTESTINE – Vata

This is time for a natural detox in the body. You will notice most people visiting the wash room at this time. Drinking of hot water stimulates Apana Vayu, the downward going force and helps in removing toxins from the body.

The large intestine also plays a very important part in decongestant our stagnant and stored emotions by opening the energy in the Mooladhara and Swadishtana chakras thereby making the mind feel rested. You gain clarity in your thoughts.

The diseases than can manifest because of a deficient Large Intestine are – Back pain, joint pains, dry skin, eczema, gases, abdominal distension, lack of hunger, constipation, erratic stool evacuation, impotency, erectile dysfunction, weak breathing, claustrophobic feeling in the diaphragm, colds, confused perceptions, lack of clear thinking, anxiety, fear, weakness of the mind, lethargy in the body

7.00 – 9.00 AM – STOMACH – Kapha

A healthy walk and exercise during the time between the large intestine time and the stomach time is the healthiest of all. This is the time most ideal for completely rejuvenating the body by opening up energy channels, massaging the internal organs and preparing them to face the day.

The stomach time is most ideal for the nourishment for the body. The start of breakfast makes the most important meal for the day. It has to be cooked or steamed. As usually believed, breakfast does not have to be heavy but has to be definitely nutritious.

A good hot, light beverage after a 15 minute gap will help settle the food and promote digestion.

The diseases than can manifest because of a deficient Stomach are – Distended Stomach (bloating), Imbalanced Agni, impaired digestion, irregular appetite, gas in the stomach, hyper acidity, gastritis, Ribbed finger nails, Hair loss, Baldness, Skin allergies.

9.00 AM – 11 AM – SPLEEN AND PANCREAS – Kapha

Health of the internal organs and a healthy cellular metabolism ensures healthy immunity. This is the secret to age gracefully. Health and wellness begins here. When the food is adequately supplied to the stomach, the mind becomes steady and focused. The day begins well. This is also the time for converting food to usable energy. Sugar is broken down to energy. Both mental and physical energies are at their peak. The benefit you get is powerful self esteem, confidence and good energy to start the day.

The diseases than can manifest because of deficient Spleen and Pancreas are – Anemia, low immunity, bleeding in the rectum, acid indigestion, enlarged spleen, lymphatic obstruction, low sugar metabolism, low energy levels, pain and stiffness in the body

11.00 AM – 1.00 PM – HEART – Pitta

Eating a light lunch is best at this time. Lunch consumed before 12.30 pm is best as it promotes the right combination of acids and alkali in the digestive system. This balance is the right environment for healthy digestion and circulation of nutrition.

As one proceeds towards mid-day, a good lunch brings an sense of satisfaction and fulfilment to the mind. Mental energies are renewed and one feels physically rejuvenated. Make sure the lunch is light as a heavy lunch will lead to drowsiness and lethargy.

The diseases than can manifest because of a deficient Heart are – Anxiety, Fear, Depression, Insecurity, Palpitation, Anger, Fear of failure, Hypertension, Mental stress, Emotional stress low circulation of Prana and energy to the body.

1.00 PM – 3.00 PM – SMALL INTESTINE – Pitta

Absorption of the second meal happens at this time. This a phase of relatively low energy as the body is busy preparing for the supply of energy for the remaining day till nightfall. Also, the separation of nutrition and waste is active at this time. Therefore, this is an ideal time to go slow with your work.

When your get into stress at this time, the assimilation process gets
disturbed. Gas and bloating will be the result. This situation will lead to further decrease in energy levels. Gas in the stomach will make one feel low in the mind too. Low energy will lead to low productivity too.

The diseases than can manifest because of a deficient Small Intestine are – Malabsorption, Deudonal Ulcers, Semi-formed stools, incomplete evacuation of toxins, Diarrhoea

3.00 PM – 5.00 PM – URINARY BLADDER – Vata

This is the crucial phase of detoxification. Apana Vayu is directed downwards to eliminate all liquid toxins. Moderate activity is advised as the detoxification process sets the tone for a good energetic later part of the evening. Kidney processes and synthesises proteins for a good energetic evening.

Coffee, Tea and other such beverages are best avoided as they interfere with the detoxification process. These beverages are diuretic in nature and will prevent the absorption of salts as they promote excess urination. The body will tend to lose more water. This unhealthy excess urination will dehydrate cells and tissues. As the essential salts required for the healthy functioning of tissues are flushed out, the healthy lifespan of the tissues is reduced. This also reduces energy levels drastically.

The diseases than can manifest because of a deficient Urinary Bladder are – Renal failure, Incontinence, Fatigue, Cramps, Tightness in muscles, Acidic urine, Burning urination, Dark yellow coloured urine with small, Frothy urine

5.00 PM – 7.00 PM – KIDNEY – Vata

The replenishment of vital energies happens at this time. This energy carries through to the night and the next morning. The kidneys and adrenal glands function at their most optimum levels delivering good energy to the body.

It is extremely important to consume hot water to improve the detoxification of excess toxins and prevent calcification of waste. Moreover, Apana Vayu is directed in the right direction to cleans their blood of excess acids. This prevents Uric acid accumulation in the blood.

A good kidney function also prevents Oesteoporosis or the brittleness of bones. Excess lactic acid levels prevent the formation of bone marrow that is important for good healthy and strong bones.

A poor kidney function can cause fatigue at this time of the day. Though adrenal glands work well at this time of the day, a over exerted adrenal gland will prevent energy levels from manifesting at this time leading to fatigue.

A low libido function can be a result of poor kidney function as Apana Vayu functions will be poor and weak. Unnecessary stress at work at this time can sap all your energy and leave you tired and exhausted at this time and later on through the evening and night too. Sleep will also be hampered due to the same reason.

Therefore the time between 6-7 would ideally be for having a shower and preparing for a pleasant evening that is opening up as the evening dawns.

The diseases than can manifest because of a deficient Kidney are – Low back pain, Low Libido, Fatigue, Kidney stones, swelling in ankles because of fluid retention, nausea, shortness of breathe.

7.00 PM – 9.00 PM – PERICARDIUM – Kapha

This is the time to invest in a relaxed atmosphere. A good evening with a pleasant disposition sets the mood for relaxation and rejuvenation. Especially after a warm bath, pericardium improves overall circulation in the body. It also relaxes the brain. A relaxed emotional state improves inter personal relations by improving essential attributes like compassion, empathy, love and caring.

Pericardium time is good for Prayers and Meditation. Also, a winding down time for an emotional heart relaxes your mind and body.

Consuming pleasant soup or savouring a warm drink at this time enhances your moods and also prepares you emotionally to enjoy good food. If emotions are relaxed, food also is enjoyed well. A healthy eating habit at this time also ensures proper digestive function.

The diseases than can manifest because of a deficient Pericardium are – Breathing difficulties, Low grade fever, feeling of fullness in the chest, breathing difficulty while lying down, chest pain

9.00 PM – 11.00 PM – CIRCULATION – Kapha

This is the most crucial time as the day is coming too an end. This time is your investment and it ensures the health of your tomorrow. The body gently slows down the metabolic activity to bring restfulness. The lymphatic activity is set in motion. This is the most ideal time to retire for the day. Any activity from your end will prevent any repair function of the body to happen.

Toxin accumulation will happen at this time if rest is not given to the body. Lymphatic functions will get disturbed because of your conscious wakeful activity.

Not giving rest at this time will lead to thyroid disorders, fatigue, hormonal imbalance, migraines, lymph node formations, incomplete sleep, low immunity, low grade fevers and impotency.

The diseases than can manifest because of a deficient Circulation are – Darkening of skin, fatigue, cold hands and feet, cramps and numbness, joint pains, swelling in ankles and feet, inability to cognise, lack of comprehension and recollection, lack of clarity in thinking, memory loss.

11.00 PM – 1.00 AM – GALL BLADDER – Pitta

This time is extremely crucial for fat metabolism and detoxification. Hormones are balanced at these times. Immunity building is the strongest at these times. All repairs relating to the heart, muscles, intestines, and the cellular metabolism are rejuvenated at this time. A Deep Sleep state is most essential at this time. A wakeful state will disturb the functions of the Gall Bladder leading to lower metabolic activity and fat metabolism will suffer.

The Gall Bladder is a very sensitive organ that works based on mental energies, basically emotions. When you are awake at this time, your mind is usually in a state of agitation and is indecisive. The energies are also erratic. The bile secreted is also erratic thereby leading to either excess bile or lower quantity of bile being secreted.

Cellular regeneration also suffers as waking state interferes with the body’s intelligence and repair is not possible. The elimination of toxins from tissues is hampered leading to higher toxic accumulations in your cells.

The Gall Bladder is stressed beyond its own capacity. Excess unused bile and other salts crystallise lead to the formation of gall stones. The diseases than can manifest because of a deficient Gall Bladder are – Nausea, Flatulence, Vomiting, Low fat metabolism, Mid back pain, Chills, Fever, Diarrhoea, Vomiting of excess bile, Gall Stones, Indecisiveness, Agitation.

1.00 AM – 3.00 AM LIVER – Pitta

The function of detoxification is at its peak. Liver also stores blood and governs the energy of the body. A healthy Rasa Dhatu will lead to a healthy Mamsa Dhatu. Healthy muscular tissue depends on a healthy liver. Liver is the seat of Agni. Eyes function on the energy of Agni. A weak liver leads to weak eye sight.

Muscles and Tendons grow stronger and have better flexibility if the liver is healthy. Excessive use of the body at these times releases excess lactic acid thereby making the liver toxic. Muscle cramps and stiffness, muscle Tumours and other muscular disorders occur because of a toxic liver.

Lactic acid also stiffens muscles and arteries. Liver controls fat metabolism. Blood carries all toxic material making it thicker and more viscous. These pathological anomalies lead to increase in blood pressure. Also, as blood is not purified, skin is also affected. Hives, Rashes, Psoriasis and other severe skin ailments occur because of toxic blood as a result of a toxic liver.

Liver stores emotions. As liver is a pitta organ, it is natural for one to be short tempered, unreasonable in behaviour and be restless in mind. Frustrations in life will be evident and mood swings are a natural occurrence. You will lose the ability to plan your day and will lose focus and concentration. Memory becomes weaker as days progress.

Blood shot eyes, pressures in the head, neck and shoulders accompanied with pain, dizziness, migraine headaches, acidity, ulcers and other ailments are a natural occurrence because of a toxic liver.

Erratic hunger, emotional eating and other psychosomatic disorders are all the result of a toxic, agitated liver. Obesity is the result.

The diseases than can manifest because of a deficient Liver are – Obesity, Low fat metabolism, Low energy levels, Chronic Fatigue, Drowsiness, Dark Yellow urine, Jaundice, Swelling in legs and ankles, Darkening of skin, Hives, Rashes, Anger, Short tempered, Restlessness, Moody, Suicidal tendencies, Depression, Migraines, Hair loss, Early greying of hair, Baldness.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR A NADI VAIDYA TO DETACH HIMSELF FROM HIS SENSE ORGANS WHILE DOING NADI PARIKSHA

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR A NADI VAIDYA TO DETACH HIMSELF FROM HIS SENSE ORGANS WHILE DOING NADI PARIKSHA

Nadi Pariksha is the most intuitive of diagnostics performed by a Vaidya. Apart from the knowledge to perform the Nadi Pariksha, which is the key, the skill of performing it totally depends on his ability to disconnect from his active sense stimuli. He is required to bring in a state of absoluteness and tune his awareness totally to his higher consciousness to perform Nadi Pariksha.

It is extremely important that no internal conversation is happening at that moment. When the Nadi is pulsated, irrespective of the level at which it is being pulsated, intuitive guidance starts to happen. A one way conversation with the consciousness within starts guiding the Vaidya. When other conversations triggered off by thoughts, emotions, feelings or stimuli from the senses begin, the loudness and the jumble of these conversations can totally cut off this subtle guidance.

My earlier articles gain significance here and this is the reason why emptiness of the mind and silencing of thoughts is crucial for Nadi Pariksha. To arrive at this stage, a couple of very powerful sessions in Tantra and Yoga are taught. This is given as a part of the Diksha or initiation of Spiritual knowledge from Guru to disciple.

All vibratory frequencies arising out of the intellect, our mind as well as the communication by our senses to convey their understanding of what they have been directed to perceive by our intellect, is all to be nullified. This stage the most crucial as, if this is not taken care of, a Vaidya may be tempted (by virtue of his ego) to understand the pulse only from his point of view. Such an understanding will be disastrous to the whole diagnostic activity. In fact, it will lead the Vadiya to infer wrongly and will only bring chaos in his understanding of the pulse.

Reading the pulse is actually connecting the dots. There are a billion combinations out of which right mapping needs to be done. Understanding the Prakruti (the constitution at birth) and its subtler doshic imbalances vs the Vikruti (the altered state of constitution) with its subtle doshic imbalances, at the time of Nadi Pariksha is extremely important. This forms the foundation of the
whole analysis. Pathological understanding to arrive at the right conclusion of the prognosis of the ailment happens on this basis as also other very crucial parameters which will be discussed later in the forthcoming articles. This requires absolute and total subtlety of mind and a fully opened super conscious state. This is not difficult and can be attained by dedicated practice through actively attuning the mind to a meditative state as often as one prefers and practices.

The direction and the force of Prana that flows through the Nadis can only be ascertained if one is able to tune his Prana with that of the flow happening in that of the patient’s Nadis. Prana is universal intelligence. By tuning the Prana in both the patient and the Vaidya, the Vaidya can allow his higher consciousness to flow through the patient’s Nadi and communicate the findings. This process is so subtle, very elevating and extremely enlightening. If there is ever a slight disturbance in one’s awareness, the whole process of observation can become gross and can be misinterpreted.

For all this to happen, the Nadi Vaidya needs to be disconnected from active involvement in society’s matters. I was very specifically instructed by my Guru to be in the world and not be a part of it. This prevents conflicts and other emotions from emerging in the mind and allows a feeling of sattva in the Vaidya’s active conscious state. Also, it is extremely important to be calm and composed and be aware of the inner state of tranquility and quietude always. This will enable the Vaidya to delve deep within his self and allow introspecting of himself. As he goes deeper, he establishes more peace and calmness. Thus his state of being is one that of a “Siddha” or an adept being. Nadi Pariksha is a Siddha tradition predominantly and this practice is of utmost importance.

Before starting the Nadi Pariksha, the Vaidya is required to perform certain rituals to detach his energies and protect his aura from getting connected with his immediate environment. This way, he is also preventing diseased frequencies from infecting him as he will be merging his Prana with that of his patient. This ritual is called a “Kavach” or a divine protective shield. This is performed through chanting of mantras, performing Mudras and performing very specific Pranayamas to activate the chakras to still the body and, silence the mind and connect the Vaidya to higher states of consciousness. This will be dealt with in the next article.

HOW SHOULD A NADI VAIDYA NOT ALLOW EMOTIONS TO INFLUENCE BREATHING AND BE DISEASE-FREE

HOW SHOULD A NADI VAIDYA NOT ALLOW EMOTIONS TO INFLUENCE BREATHING AND BE DISEASE-FREE

To understand and appreciate the contents of this article, I would want you to read my earlier article on this blog called “The Digestion of Emotions and Foods”. This explains in detail the manifestation of our emotions through our body in various zones and the effects it has on our system. Also, various diseases that manifest as a result of these emotional manifestations are also elaborated.

LIVING IN AND WORKING THROUGH OUR CONSCIOUSNESS

A Nadi Vaidya can perform a thorough Nadi Pariksha only when he is totally tuned to his consciousness and is fully alive in it.

Our consciousness is the only one that is “eternally alive” when we are awake and also when we are asleep. We are not conscious of our existence in sleep but our consciousness keeps us alive throughout our sleep till we awaken the following morning.

Our consciousness is the only “witness” to all our perceptions and feelings, thoughts, emotions as well as actions performed either consciously or unconsciously. We also need to live and conduct our life, our thoughts and actions in a similar manner, unaffected as a witness to all the actions performed by our Body, Mind and Intellect.

Our consciousness works in the background throughout our existence. And yet it stays unaffected by our actions. When we perform our actions, think our thoughts or experience an emotion or feeling, our consciousness in the background, subtly makes us aware of what we are indulging in at this moment. Even while you are reading this artlcle, your consciousness is aware of you reading this article where your eyes are reading the words, your mind is forming the sentences and your brain is assimilating the information to make it meaningful and relevant to you.

Living in and working through our consciousness means staying in absolute harmony in our inner world as well as with all the manifestations in the outside world. This means we need to establish mental calmness. This is the only way we can detach ourselves from our mind.

UNDERSTANDING THE TRANSFER OF EXPRESSION FROM MIND TO BODY

We live in a world of ‘Names and Forms’. Our identification with this world of names and forms happens through our equipments of Body, Mind and our Intellect. Through these equipments, we are constantly perceiving, feeling and thinking. Liberating ourselves from the influences of our perceptions, feelings and thoughts and forfeiting the use of the body, mind and intellect for this purpose gives us the ability to live in and work through our consciousness. Mind is just ‘Thought Flow’. All our thoughts get qualified by our perceptions and feelings. Because of this ‘qualified’ thought flow, we ‘visualize our version of the reality’ because of which we tend to
experience Happiness, Sadness, Anger, Frustration, Anxiety, Fear etc.

When there is ‘no qualified thought flow’, thoughts ceaze to distract us and slowly the thoughts exhaust themselves. When there is absence of thoughts, there is emptiness. This emptiness is a state of no mind. And it is establishing this state that is the key to start living in and working through our consciousness.

Our perceptions and feelings bring about their influence on the world of names and forms. The instrument that qualifies these perceptions and feelings is our Ego. In a bid to feel happy, complete and in harmony, the ego binds itself to these names and forms and tries to derive happiness through them. But in doing so, it finds itself torn between likes and dislikes, happiness and sadness, anger and frustration etc. Thus, due to the plurality of expressions, it gets further entrenched in misery.

Our mind perceives and feels through our senses. And the senses qualify the sensed objects. Thus the objects are qualified as ‘good’, ‘bad’, ‘liked’, ‘disliked’, ‘attractive’, ‘unattractive’ etc. With such dualities and pluralities present, the mind is constantly in turmoil. The only way out is to totally distance ourselves from our perceptions and feelings.

All our perceptions and thoughts are expressed by the mind through the body. Every thought is a desire for gratification originating from the intellect. The expression of this desire happens through the physical equipment called the ‘Body’. By “Preferring not to recognize or acknowledge our perceptions and feelings”, we directly nullify the desire. Thus the body stays calm and unaffected.

Thus with the duality of the mind getting done away with, the mind will have no option but to quiten down. But the mind though dormant, is a volatile force. To condition its working, we need to empower it by ‘redirecting it to more harmonious actions’. Harmonious actions will establish a sense of peace and calmness within and gradually withdraw us from the duality.

Harmonious actions can only come out of harmonious thoughts. Thus by “Preferring to think in a certain fashion”, we can manifest harmonious actions that will calm the Body, Mind an Intellect. This can happen only be adopting the following techniques:

1). Practicing forgiveness means we do not allow anger to manifest in us. Rather we replace it empathy and compassion.

2). Being straightforward in our relationship with others allows harmony and wellness to prevail. This also allows the fullest of genuine expressions to blossom along with the existence of healthy values to prevail in the relationship. Additionally, a spiritual bond is established.

3). Practicing Kindness brings a soul awakening experience. We feel spiritually elated and feel fully satisfied when we show an act of kindness. Mental calmness is established and stays for a long time.

4). Practicing honesty and truthfullness in thought and deed establishes in us a calm and unwavering mind. Moreover, it heightens our self esteem thereby making us feel very purposeful in
our actions. The net result is calmness and Joy within, and a healthy environment around us.

5). Practicing Cheerfullness and being lively re-awakens the child in us. We become ready to explore all the beautiful moments, living in the present moment all the time. This makes us alive and aware of each and every thought and action. The result is harmony within and around us.

USING OUR BREATHE TO ALTER OUR STATE OF ACTIVE CONSCIOUSNESS

Our breathe is the only living force that makes us experience every moment. Because of the stressful lives that we lead today, we are not aware of the breathe acting or reacting to each and every impulse of the mind.

Both thought and breathe are a part of the Prana or life force. By controlling one part, we can gain control over the other. By practice, we discover that it is easier to control and regulate our breathe than our thoughts.

Depending on the nature of our feelings as we perceive, our breathe gets automatically directed to certain zones of the body, moving either upward or downward. This enables our body to respond to the way we feel and we are forced to act on this feeling. Our body either stiffens or slackens. Through the expressions of our body, we either decide to run away or stay and face the situation.

USING OUR DIAPHRAGMS TO REGULATE OUR BREATHING

We have 3 diaphragms in the body. The 1st one is at the pelvic region, just below the navel. The 2nd one is at the region of our Diaphragm, just below the rib cage and the 3rd one on the crown, in the region of the occiput. This is where a very powerful Marma exists called the Adipathi Marma controlling the central nervous system.

Through conscious control on the volume and the direction of breathe using these 3 diaphragms, one is able to change one’s level of consciousness and prevent thoughts from manifesting in our mind. Our senses are calmned. Then, withdrawing the senses and establishing a meditative state within us becomes extremely easy.

As the outer manifestations of the body cease, the body relaxes and allows to heal itself through its own internal intelligence.

HOW SHOULD A NADI VAIDYA BALANCE SADHAKA PITTA TO ATTAIN A CALM MIND AND BODY

HOW SHOULD A NADI VAIDYA BALANCE SADHAKA PITTA TO ATTAIN A CALM MIND AND BODY

it is imperative that one who wants to be connected to the consciousness within has to be free of any emotional bondage. This is the most important pre-requisite for a Nadi Vaidya.

When one is affected mentally, one is also troubled physically. The reason is the only way the mind expresses itself is through the body…

Thought and emotional expression happen by way of connection between the Manas (Mind), The nervous system (Majjavaha Srotas) – through the nerve tissue (Majjha Dhatu) as well as the organs in the body helping in the expression of emotions – The Heart and Pericardium.

The energy that works to convert a perception as feelings via the heart into expressions as emotions through the nerves is called Sadhaka Pitta. In this, the lungs also play a very important part in regulating the breathe to emphasize the expression of the emotion.

This whole system of expression is mainly triggered off by the mind through the intellect where the desire originates. As the desire originates, the mind brings out sequences of similar events stored in the subconscious mind as information to substiantiate the desire.

When the action does not match the desire, a reaction takes place which triggers of fresh desires. Here the nature of Sadhaka Pitta (depending on the predominant energy flow in the body of any of the tridoshas) influences the emotion in a major way. Reactions in the form of emotions and ailments surface both on the Mental as well as the Physical Level such as… For eg,.

ON THE MENTAL LEVEL

1). If the Sadhaka Pitta is influenced by Vayu, the emotions that can triggered off will be one of Fear, A Compromising attitude, being Emotionally unstable, Very sensitive, experiencing Unconnected thinking, Anxiety, Weak Memory, Dreams of flying, Flight, Restlessness, Anxiety, Sadness etc.

2). If the Sadhaka Pitta is influenced by Pitta, the resultant emotions are Anger, Irritation, being short-fused, Dreams of fighting, Too much of planning, pressing for too many details in a given situation, becoming Reactive, Frustrated, Irritated, showing Adamant Behaviour, Throwing tantrums, being vengeance full, Righteous Indignation, Agitation etc.

3). If the Sadhaka Pitta is influenced by Kapha, the resultant emotions are one of Depression, Slow thinking and slow assimilation of information, one Does not get influenced easily, shows Lack of initiative, suffers Inability to think or reason, shows
Stubbornness, Unreasonable behaviour etc..

ON THE PHYSICAL LEVEL

When Sadhaka Pitta acts through the body under the influence of Vayu, it bring our psychological reactions such as Gassi-ness, Bloatedness, Stiff neck, Stiff Back, Hurried eating, Vayu type Migraines, Dizziness, Ringing in the ears, Nose leaking with thin mucus (Agitated Tarpaka Kapha), Very Light disturbed sleep, Vata type Constipation or loose stools, Stiff Joints, Nervous cracking and popping of joints, Restless behaviour, hair fall, Stiffened Muscles (even stiff posture while walking), twitching of muscles, Muscular Spasms, Hurried Actions, etc..

When Sadhaka Pitta acts through the body under the influence of Pitta, it bring our psychological reactions such as Acidity, Dry Darkened skin, Rashes, Eczema, Psoriasis, Better sleep but with snoring, Pitta Type Migraines, Dandruff, Smelly White Discharge, Pitta Type Constipation or Semi solid stools, Excessive yellow coloured Mucoid secretions, Reddened Eyes, A taste for hot and pungent foods, Excessive smelly sweating etc..

When Sadhaka Pitta acts through the body under the influence of Kapha, it bring our psychological reactions such as Inertia, Lethargy, Obesity, Deep sleep, Always feeling sleepy or dull, Breathing Disorders such as Asthma, etc..

MONITORING OUR PERCEPTIONS

There are very powerful ways to balance Sadhaka Pitta. To begin with, control over our “Thought Process” is necessary. We need to understand the way our mind and our psyche works.

We are thinking machines. We are constantly thinking, perceiving, judging and inferring. This is the process that needs active and conscious monitoring.

Our mind is only a processing machine that has no physical existence. It is directed to work based on the way we get ourselves to feel. Based on the belief system that has been imparted to us an essential tool to survive, we begin to perceive our environment, our surroundings and our situations and circumstances. When we perceive, we feel.

Our emotions are the direct result of the way we feel. And our actions are directly related to our emotions. Therefore, we are directing ourselves to act. If we do not bcome aware of our feelings, we will feel that we have become a victim to our actions. The result of the process during ‘Feeling-Emoting-Action’ is what is indicated above as symptoms that the mind and the body experience.

OUR BREATHE – A SECRET TO SUCCESS

Our breathe becomes a key during this whole process. While we are being subconsciously driven to Feel-Emote and Act, our breathe is being constantly regulated to help emote and act. As the regulation of the breathe, so is the way we emote and act. Therefore watching our breathe becomes the key.

Our breathe drives us both inward as well as outward. The outward going breathe leads us to perceive the outside world. And the inward travelling breathe makes us aware of our consciousness.

Our perception of the outer world should be in relation to the inner consciousness. This is the only way we can bring in a state of equanimity within ourselves while facing any situation. This will also nullify all emotional conflicts and make us be in the world and not become a part of it.
